At SkyCity Adelaide, we are committed to developing staff awareness on Gambling Harm Minimisation & Prevention and Responsible Service of Alcohol. This helps to ensure all staff can comfortably have conversations with customers on these topics and sustain a safer gambling environment for all guests.

Our Responsible Service of Gambling training program plays a central role in this commitment, ensuring that every team member understands their responsibilities and is equipped to provide informed, proactive support to our customers and even other staff members who may be at risk of gambling or alcohol related harms.

The training provides all staff with a comprehensive understanding of gambling harm, including how to recognise early risk indicators, how to engage with guests respectfully and how to apply SkyCity’s policies and procedures to care for our guests.

Our staff explore real workplace scenarios, learn evidence based techniques and gain confidence in referring guests to appropriate support services. Designed for both customer facing and operational roles, our program promotes a consistent, venue wide approach to harm minimisation. It reinforces compliance with South Australian regulatory requirements and reflects SkyCity’s ongoing dedication to customer care.

This training ensures our team creates a safer environment for everyone who visits the property, one where responsible gambling practices remain at the heart of the guest experience.
We go beyond our obligations with our dedicated Host Responsibility staff who undergo comprehensive, industry leading training to ensure they can effectively support a safe and responsible gaming environment. Their development includes in-depth education on gambling harm minimisation, recognising and responding to at risk behaviours, legislative and regulatory requirements, customer engagement skills, incident documentation, and collaborative approaches to supporting vulnerable guests. Coordinators are also trained in cultural awareness, de-escalation, confidentiality, and ethical decision-making.

This rigorous training ensures they are equipped to provide informed guidance, uphold compliance standards, and contribute to a safer, more supportive experience for all guests.
